Buen Chico

Our Love's Enormous

Fuzzy, sunny and funny... these are three piece Leeds band, Buen Chico with their second album - Our Love's Enormous. Members Morgan, Kirsty and Alan craft very simple indie songs with a touch of magic, starting off with 'This Party' which is pure love in a song. Their charming and intelligent songwriting makes them pleasurable to listen to and they craft the tunes so they're simple yet effective. But their fun little tracks don't always get my toes tingling, I think they need that little bit extra. There are brilliant male/female harmonies going on all the way through the album, but it sounds especially good in 'There's No machine' and 'Tell 'Em!'. Buen Chico's name is quite original and quirky, and I think a band's name can say a lot about them - unfortunately I have no idea if it has any specific meaning. Through further research I found out that they've toured with bands such as The Long Blondes and GoodShoes, trying to make a name for themselves. From what I can hear, they have hints of Ash and Supergrass mixed into their sound and clearly in 'It Wasn't About That' and 'See Who Wins'. Our Love Is Enormous follows on from their first album - Right To Rearrange, so obviously people are finding them appealing, and I can see a third album following in the near future.
