Remedy
Ones to Watch
The music scene at the moment is more or less lacking in good, old fashioned rock music... well not anymore! Remedy are an exciting new rock band to grace the genre. Four piece Jenn Cherene, Graham Haswell, Lee Tuck, and Mark Dodds sound like 70's influenced rock with a blend of 60's and 80's thrown in too. You may know them from when they were gigging the north east pub circuit as covers band The Alcatraz House Band, but felt it was time to move on to playing their own songs. Their fresh yet unique sound promises to have you hooked, and with vocalist Jenn tipped to be the next Janis Joplin with her powerful voice, they could be set to make it big. Classic Rock Magazine says 'The promise is there to grow into a formidable band', and I totally agree. They've had nothing but good press so far and their ability to write great songs, as well as them being fantastic musicians means I have discovered a truly great band. Their EP 'Strange Fast Now' is amazing and sounds ultimately professional, and their energy and enthusiasm along with their attitude, clearly drives them to avoid a mediocre sound. So far they've supported groups such as The Quireboys, Get Vegas and Voodoo Johnson, and toured with Pearl Aday (the daughter of Meatloaf). Their experimental approach to their music creates a powerful edginess that just makes you go 'Wow, this is a great band to listen to'. Each band member brings their own element to Remedy's songs – from the rhythm, to the guitar riffs, to the thrill of Jenn's vocal range, they're certainly an impressive band. If they keep themselves grounded without slipping into the latest music trend, they're sure to be around for a long time and keep their fans hungry for more – So watch out for Remedy, the best rock band I've heard in a long time.
